Birdathon

2026 Birdathon

This year’s Birdathon was a great success for our Audubon chapter, with lots of birds, lots of birders out birding, and lots of donors coming through with support for our efforts to Protect Birds and the Places they Need.

On May 2nd, 14 of us spent the day scouring the Peninsula and South Bay and were able to observe 116 species of birds! Birdathon team members were Tracy Drake, Deanna & Randy Harwood, Tori Fay, Evi Meyer, Kim Moore, Vincent Lloyd, Bob Shanman, Jeanne Bellemin, Liz Kennedy, Elise Harrison-Smith, Linda Gonzales, Bill Tymczyszyn and Jess Morton.

About Birdathon

Each spring, Palos Verdes/South Bay Audubon holds this event to raise funds for our ongoing projects in public engagement, community science, habitat restoration and other efforts to raise appreciation of and protection for birds.

During the Birdathon, our chapter team travel throughout the community logging as many bird sightings as possible within a 24 hour period. We ask anyone who is able to consider making a flat donation or a pledge per species to support our work.
