PV/SB Audubon’s actions to save the endangered Palos Verdes blue butterfly (PVB) will be Keith Haney’s topic for our July 16th chapter meeting.  Keith has recently joined us as a Project Manager and working closely with Rolling Hills Preparatory School as well as the US Fish & Wildlife Service to ‘kick start’ the management of important PVB habitat adjacent to the school is top on his list. Originally listed as endangered in 1980 and subsequently thought to be extinct for a period of 10 years, our own Jess Morton got the first PVB pictures when the butterfly was rediscovered in 1993!  Unfortunately, PVB observations and suitable habitat remain few and this beautiful organism’s fate is still uncertain Please listen in to learn about the role our chapter has in leading this PVB preservation effort as well as a couple of additional chapter initiatives Keith will be driving.
