This Month’s Chapter Meeting Presentation
Guido Berguido shares live views from Panamanian wetlands
August 18 7:00pm, in-person at the Madrona Marsh Nature Center and live on Zoom
This month we are joined again by Guido Berguido—biologist, expedition leader, conservationist, and founder of ADOPTA Bosque Panamá. Over the last twenty years, ADOPTA has become one of Panama’s premier conservation organizations. He began with no money, but a dream of protecting a cloud forest atop Cerro Chucantí, a remote mountain peak with rare birds in eastern Panama. Guido has created a network of habitat reserves and research stations across his home nation of Panama, and he is the driving force behind the establishment of three Panamanian national parks.
This meeting in particular will be geared toward youth engagement, as Guido will be introducing students to the world of migratory birds that travel between California and Panama. Tracking these incredible winged travelers transforms abstract lessons on ecosystems and biodiversity into an exciting, real-world adventure happening right in their own backyards.
If you can’t make it in person, the meeting will also be live on Zoom. If you are unable to attend in person or via zoom, please send your questions, suggestions and recommendations to info@pvsbaudubon.org.
