Insects in the Anthropocene

With Professor Matt Forister, Curator of Entomology at the University of Nevada Museum of Natural History

Matt Forister joins us to for his talk on insects in the Anthropocene, and the implications of the massive decline in arthropod abundance over the last five decades for bird populations and human wellbeing. In this talk, Matt will describe his work with an amazing 50+ year database amassed by a lone dedicated lepidopterist that records butterfly diversity across the breadth of Northern California, and what it implies about the widespread use of pesticides, the health of arthropods and, ultimately, us.
