Dragonfly Count

PV/SB Dragonfly Count

Starting in 2020, PV/SB Audubon co-ordinates an annual Dragonfly/Damselfly Count (Odonata Count). It is similar to the Butterfly and Bird Counts and uses the same count circle, a circle which extends east to the Los Angeles River, north to Alondra Park, west to Santa Monica Bay, and south to the Catalina Channel. In our first year (2020), we counted 311 dragonflies belonging to 14 species.
